Everybody seems to be lying here....

Every body seems to be lying here
while those out on the streets are dying there.

There isn't much point in making an effort
no use of change, stop trying here.

While some don't sit for meals if there's no Caviar
and others are for stale bread crying here.

We 've got the Politicos who are callous and care for nothing
and then there's the press always prying there.

No one does good and remotely noble
for attention and adulation are they vying here.

They say this is a mean world and it's full of muck
somebody's always selling a life and someone's buying here.

Nothing Hour

Oh ! my sweet sweet sweetest dear morning hour
nothing to do but sleep , then wake up and take a shower.

No deadlines to meet , no Bosses to please
no stacks of dusty files which force you to wheeze.

Eat at leisure and without looking at the clock
no guilty junk take aways that make you a flabby sock.

No traffic on the roads when you start back for home
old friends everywhere when on the Mall road you do roam.

Crispy white and pinkish linen on the bed
to warmth , love and affection you are wed.

Beautiful girls with slender necks and deep dark eyes
rosy cheeks , long hair and friendly smiles.

Bright Sun , cool breeze and thin white clouds
shade from Pines and Deodars which shroud.

Oh my sweet sweet sweetest dear Nothing Hour
I don't know what, how or where you are.

The only thing I know is that I want to be in you
and do the things I can't normally do.

Be nothing if only for an hour a day
and wish all the business away.

Pink Lilies , roses and the light green grass
fresh morning nectar from them stored up in brass.

Your hand on the soft back of a wench
Gourmont , Wilde and may be a discourse in French.

Sunset , drizzle and the smell of the earth
purity, innocence and beauty in no dearth.

Slowly the night descends and off to sleep
dreams full of calm and peaceful retreats.

Oh my sweet sweet sweetest Nothing Hour
I wish I knew what , how or where or who you are.

Take a bath

It's 11 o ' clock and you haven't taken a bath
soon it'll be 12 and the sun will begin the westwardly path.

Sooner than you think the night will descend
so are you still going to pretend that you want to take a bath?

You step out of the bathroom
but leave the tap on
cause it's already 11 o' clock
and you don't want anybody to know
what's going on.

When the bucket fills up
you step inside with a underrated sigh
and remove your clothes and try to huddle them up
in a corner that's still dry.

You then hold the mug
but wonder why isn't there a bath tub
no exfoliator , no facial cream
Oh God it's a bad bad dream!
Too late to get what you desire you plan to make use of what's there
a bucket of warm water, a body soap and a shampoo for your hair.

The water trickles down the bare back and it's no longer dry
why the hell did I have to do this , Oh God tell me why?

After half the bucket is exhausted and the soap is waiting to be removed
you hope the temperature of the water lying there has improved.

You do feel fresh when it's all over
but you also feel cold.

next time take a bath in the morning
don't wait for noon and sunshine.

They would tell you that no job is small
do the best in whatever you have

What matters is that you are working
not where or for whom or for how much cash.

The next day when you are all happy and peaceful about your work
they suddenly make drastic amends and ask you about your work
how much are you making ? what are the perks?

Pay packets, high position get to you
and you lose the newly acquired zeal
you are only mortal , what else did you expect?
this any job-no small job talk was just a test.

Why are you still sitting around ? go find a job
and a good one too , or else it's as good as nothing..
they are only concerned about your welfare
as to how will you fare when you don't get your due share.

Don't get confused Sire there is nothing wrong
in being a lowly paid happy man
as long as it is someone else.

The Garbage Disposal System

The new garbage disposal system's here
one of these days you'll be thrown away.

It's been long since you were lying here
eventually even garbage needs some fresh air.

A couple of fingers to pick up the torn packet
a couple of hooligans to make some racket.

A foolish little boy who plays with muck
a rag picker quite down on his luck.

We need to have them right here
cause a new System is going to be there.

You can't be garbage and lie not still
at least if you don't , have no foul smell.

There are some genteel folks who would have you taken away
cause you are too close to their homes.

You'll be burnt you'll be hacked and deported in pieces
to the places of those who need you back.

Your face isn't fresh anymore you ain't smiling
the new system's here.

You are looking so scared as if they'll take some pity
no, The new system's here.

Didn't find your calling , so became a thing
which lies down here and there.

Till the time came and they all shunted you out
in the rain, the blistering sun and the cold and cutting air.

Don't worry now son, the times have changed
we have a new system here.

There's a new garbage disposal system
going to be set up here
you'll be the first one to be
taken down those marble stairs.

The Parliament is in session

Make no noise,
Can’t hear their voice
Stop playing with them and their lives
They aren’t toys

Step back, let us hear them
Make no noise
Let us hear their voice.

Mr. Speaker are you listening to our pleas?
Ask them to make no noise
We want to hear what they’ll speak.

Are we to stay silent?
And listen to this ruckus
Is it not our right?
To hear them speak?

Just passed the hall which houses them
There’s more humdrum
Than that which marks?
A primary class

No one is ready to hear anybody
One shouts the other screams
No one actually speaks

There is not a shadow of doubt in my eyes
That when they are there time flies.

It’s been many years since they’ve said something
Which was heard?
Ask them to be silent
And make no noise.

I am dying of hunger and they only speak
No one cares, the future is bleak.

They talk about the damned rule book
About adjournments and motions so as to speak
While my brothers are looking and turning weak.

Sometimes in the winter session sometimes in the monsoon rains
Have I seen my hopes going down the political drain.

Mr. Speaker ask that fellow to raise hid voice
I can’t hear what he’ saying.

Mr. Speaker tell them not to make that noise
I can’t hear the minister’s voice.

Daily Postal Service

Get behind the wheel ,let's go shopping
I'll buy a bed ,you can buy a chair
The man behing me is blowing the horns of his vehicle
let him do his bit, I don't care.

The light turns green for just ten seconds
when it turns red it's for a minute
I don't know why but it is unfair
the engine of mine can't spin it.

There's one fellow trying to overtake me from the left
I can't see what he is doing
A fellow is tailgaiting me I can't stand it
want to tell him "back Off Stop screwing!"

The lanes are not proper
those on the right wanto take the left turn
those going straight have nowhere to go
stand behind the crowd that's what you get to learn.

I don't know why these top gears were provided by maker
I have bever used them in the city
Why the hell does the speedometer count 200
a misprint , what a pity.

My rearview mirror is showing an approaching vehicle
driven by a man impatience written all over his face
things are closer than they appear, I read this on the mirror
sure they are he whizzes past me without a trace.

Everyone is breaking the lights and knocking their car against others
all the bumpers are broken and the bodies scratched
I am driving around in an old model
what do I care if it's not a hatchback.

Look at the young lady in her Ford
she sure wants to win this race
I don't know where she's going and who's waiting for her
that she's on the road alive by the good God's grace.

A radiostation is playing some nice old songs
but the man on the back seat is wheezing
he doesn't give a fig for it
he wants to reach home.

There are some men who had parked their vehicles on the road
and now want to take them out just as you pass
they wave their arms as a warning signal
they want you let them pass.
